Little Blue Boo

Have you met this beautiful lady?  I hadn't until today, and thanks to Emily over at Jones Design Company , I want to be her friend!  Let me introduce you toAshley. She writes over at Lil Blue Boo and has a line of whimsical, ruffly clothes for girls.  Ashley is truly beautiful inside and out. Earlier this year, after having a miscarriage she and her husband tried to get pregnant again. Her pregnancy resulted in a rare form of cancer called Choriocarcinoma. This cancer spreads quickly, and her case has followed suit.  She is fighting it, living joyfully and gracefully in spite of the ways it has challenged her faith and impacted her family.
A few weeks ago, she shaved her head. All that beautiful long blonde hair is gone. The video is of her shaving her head and all the love involved. You should watch it right this very second.  It will absolutely make you cry.  And if it doesn't, check yourself!

Rite of Passage - Shaving my Head from Ashley Hackshaw on Vimeo.

How would you react to shaving your head?  Can you believe Ashley's mom shaved her head in support.  I totally want to be that type of mom.  The fact that she seems so stinking calm through the whole thing blew me out of the water.  No tears, just peace.  What strength she has.

If you feel so called to donate to Ashley and her family for all the mounding medical bills you can do so here.

Makes me feel kind of silly and vain about feeling crappy about a bad haircut!  Good thing there is grace!

Springing Forward

Hello all...hope this Tuesday is finding you well.  It is drizzly and pretty darn yucky here today.  Most of my thoughts go towards spring time these days.  I want to throw on my good-old-white jeans and a bright happy top and some comfy sandals, but nooo!  Do follow the rule of no white before easter?  I don't think that I ever follow that....but the weather is not participating in my plans.  The things that I do look forward to are bike riding, laying on a quilt with two little men and looking up at the newly budded trees, and all the rebirth around us.

On another note, I've started drinking green smoothies quite a bit and I thought I wouldn't like them, but oh!  They are so yummy!  Little Sammy even loves them, and the huge, huge, thing is that Benno tried it and made a large Mmmm sound.  Hip hip hurray for mamas!  That's one for the books kids.  (Little did he know that there was spinach all in that).  They make me feel all lite and fresh inside, kind springy!  Have a great day ya'll. Hugs, A

Sunny Yellow Please

Good Morning all!  For some odd reason I've been a little obsessed with the lovely shade of mellow yellow.  Is it because it's almost spring?  Is it because I've been a little gloomy and it is so sunshiney? I'm not sure, but here are some of my sweet musings. Enjoy the eye candy.  I tried to make sure and list the links below each pic. Tomorrow is Friday!  Enjoy the day, drink it in. A

Friday Ramblings

Hello my little lovelies.  What are you doing this weekend?  It is awfully yucky here, and we keep needing to have a garage sale, but it has rained every weekend.  What is one to do?

Print from here
I'm super ready for sping to be here.  The light, the flowers, the clothes, playing outside with bubbles and picnics, walks, bike rides, and garden planting.  Bummer that it will rain all weekend. What do you do when it's yucky?  My boys and I will probably go to a library this weekend and maybe to funtastic playland to get all their boyish energy out on Saturday.  I've noticed, with two boys, that if you don't "run" them a certain amount they will turn on each other or break something.  They have to run and be crazy!

I'm itching to clean out some closets too and do a little pre-spring cleaning.  This of course will be difficult with two small men running around like wild banchies and pulling everything out every where.  Wish me luck. Happy Weekend to you all out there. Stay dry! A

My friend Kim

Have you heard the news?  My sweet friend Kim in on STINKING SURVIVOR!!  I'm so very proud of her and can't hardly stop telling people.  She is truly one of the coolest people ever. She's traveled everywhere, is super genuine, and is always up for a good time. Tonight is the premire at Alamo Draft house and I've actually arranged a babysitter because I wouldn't miss yummy pizza, cold beer, and watching my friend on the big screen. Go Kim Go!

She is a beast!  Check out her smoking hot bod!  Holy smokes!
Eighteen castaways will compete on SURVIVOR: ONE WORLD when the series returns on Wednesday, February 15, 2012.
The castaways must fight the elements, adapt to their new surroundings and vie against each other to stay in the game or be voted out by their peers, all while living together on the same beach. Tribes, separated by men versus women, will have to decide whether to share their resources with each other or leave the opposing tribe to fend for themselves.

Let’s meet Kim Spadlin, 29 and from Texas.
Tribe Designation: Salani

Current Residence: San Antonio, Texas

Occupation: Bridal Shop Owner

Personal Claim to Fame: Always being up for adventure! Opening my own business at age 26, working as a whitewater rafting guide, living at an orphanage in Thailand… Oh! And I can figure out what animal a person would be within five minutes of meeting them.

Inspiration in Life: My dad. He has this amazing way about him that draws people to him. He makes everything feel special – vacations, movies, lunch at Subway, me. He is never afraid and funny as hell. He gives the most amazing and perfectly timed pep talks!

Hobbies: Sand volleyball, reading and hanging out with really cool people.

Pet Peeves: Speed bumps, corny humor, people who honk to reprimand rather than as a warning, and really bad bridesmaid dresses (there’s no reason for that, really).

3 Words to Describe You: Passionate, warm and clever.

SURVIVOR Contestant You Are Most Like:  Probably Stephenie LaGrossa from Palau, because she’s a badass (total honey badger). Also, Elisabeth Hasselbeck because she was friendly but competitive and Amanda because she is tall.

Reason for Being on SURVIVOR: Truly for the thrill of it! Stepping away from the comfort of my little world and challenging myself. Proving I can do as well at this game as I’ve always thought I could.

Why You Think You’ll “Survive” SURVIVOR: My mental toughness, wicked throwing arm (for a girl), and people sometimes underestimate my sneakiness.

Why You Think You Will Be the Sole SURVIVOR: I believe in treating all people with respect and honor. Why would you vote off someone who respects you?

Treehouse Updates

Here are as promised, are pictures of our newly built, amazing treehouse!  Mr. Niedecken is absolutely fabulous that he can set out and create this from start to finish.  Amazing I say!  There still needs to be a hammock hung underneath and some plants, but otherwise, it's done!

It's been pretty rainy and icky here lately, and our backyard is a bunch of weeds and mud.  This was the one day that I could get out there with the little monkeys and take a few picks.  We had the bubble machine going and Sam was in absolute heaven.

Ohhhh bubbles....

Let me catch one....

Oh, but the tickle when they pop on my head....get out of here!

Off, off!

I love this's so happy to me.
Happy day to you!  Hope it's a grand one!  Love, A

Cowboys and Cowgirls

Part of this weekend was spent at the rodeo with the very sweet Kandane family.  Mr. Niedecken scored some pretty fabulous tickets, but at the last minute couldn't go, so Kate, and crew got to join us instead.  It was quite the adventure...two moms and four little men.   It was pretty cold too....we of course dressed the boys warm enough, but we were pretty cold!  Ben wasn't feeling the love for the in most of his pics he looks kind of angry.   He wasn't though.

Ben's favorite thing by far was the "chickees". Hence, all the pics of them.  That's what he kept wanting me to take pictures of.  I didn't really get any good pictures inside the rodeo because you aren't supposed to take in a camera with a detachable lens (which mine is) so I had to sneak it in.  Rebel I say!  My favorite part was the massively delish corn dogs.  They were truly the best thing EVER.  My other favorite part was when we finally sat down to watch the rodeo, three boys fell asleep and Ben stayed awake.  It was a sight to see.  Mr. Niedecken and Benno are going to the rodeo, just the two of them, very soon!  You should go!

More Updates on Projects

Good Morning everyone out there in the bloggershpere!  It's Valentines day!  Hip, hip, hurray!  I'm not usually a valentines day kind of girl, but I'm feeling the love this morning. Maybe it's having little ones who love all the magic.  It was so fun to make all my little men's teachers presents and all their little valentine cards.

The pics are from some of the stuff around the house that I've either finally finished, or just created.
This is our front door space. I did the painting a long time ago, and the little motor home is a printable.

Maddy girl says "Welcome!!"

I just made this little pom pom garland out of left over parts. I used clear fishing line and a needle to push it through.  I bought the balls on etsy.  I totally love it!

This is a little shelf from ikea, the owl was a cheapo from TJ Maxx and the pictures are printables.  The cute bowls and cups are from Anthropologie with my Christmas mula.  Thanks Mom!

This is from here, and the good looking art if by Benno himself.  It's our family!

This is a little light fixture in the boys play area that was uber ugly, and I took left over fabric and covered it. I used a hot glue gun and was very careful.  The main thing you have to be careful of is the under side.  You have to make it look all clean and pretty, not messy and uneven.

Happy, happy day to you and yours.  Spread the love around ya'll.  Give someone a hug!
Smooches, A
