Purchasing Power

Good Morning my sweet lovelies! Lately, our household is very aware of any abundance we may have compared to the rest of the world. I feel guilty throwing food away that my boys don't eat. It makes me cringe. Or having good produce go bad because we don't eat it fast enough. Or purchasing clothing that only lasts for a wear or two. The list goes on and on. But, the good news is, there is a solution. To use our purchasing power to make a difference. My goal is for each purchase I make, to think, "who is this benefiting?" I wanted to share with you a one of my favorite companies today (I will share other ones later).

The first one up is Sevenly {www.sevenly.org} Every week Sevenly (and its customers) teams up with a charity, helping raise funds and awareness for 7 full days. The campaign starts on Mondays at 10am PST with the release of limited edition products. Each purchase made gives $7 to the charity partner of the week. Whether you purchase a campaign specific shirt or something from our curated vendor selection, $7 goes directly to making a difference with the charity. (taken from their website)

I've purchased now probably six different shirts, each for a different cause. And just this week, purchased one with my favorite quote about "Being the change". The worst problem you will have, is that you will want to buy it all! Each cause is deserving! In the back of each shirt, there is a scripture and the cause you helped. That just makes my heart happy!

Here is the video for this weeks cause, 4 Paws 4 Ability, placing quality service dogs with children with disabilities and veterans who have lost use of limbs or hearing; help with animal rescue, and educate the public regarding use of service dogs in public places.
Happy day to you. Pop over to Sevenly, and if you need something they offer, feel great about using your money to better this precious world.

Getting Ready For the Lovefest

Follow Annie Niedecken's board Valentine on Pinterest. Are you ready for Valentine's day? I'm getting closer. I really love the valentines that I made for the boys this year! Not only do we have the usual school parties, but we were invited to an additional Valentine's shindig, so more cards were needed. 80 to be exact. Yes, you heard me.

I'm a sucker for a non-candy Valentine and of course scoured Pinterest for such ideas. We used bubbles, stamps, and silly glasses. All the things make my kids insanely happy. You can see the ones I used above in my board.

For the boys bigger treat, I went ahead and purchased this years big bubble machine! We LOVE a good bubble machine. One kiddo will get the machine, and the other will get the massive bottle of bubbles. I tried not to go overboard with crapola and really focus on what we need/want. Both boys are getting a new short sleeve tee and a small candy treat. I'm planning on making them a nice, fancy breakfast in the morning and possibly a "date family night" instead of just Mr. N and I.

What are your sweet plans? Are you all into the hype? To be completely frank, Mr. N and I aren't. We usually get each other a nice card and maybe a small treat, but that's about it. He is pretty great to me everyday, so we feel that a specific day to be kind or loving is silly.

If you don't have a valentine, I say go hug someone. Just do it. It may be awkward, but go for it. Hugs, a

Power of Being Positive.

I love TED talks. I like to learn about other people's visions and what makes them tick. This specific TED talk really struck me. I like her questions...."What defines you as a person?" So I thought about it for awhile...really brewed on it. It's not my appearance for sure. I wake up most mornings looking like something the cat drug in. It's not my house, car, clothes, or possessions. That is all fleeting. It's not my deeds. What defines me is God, family and love. That is my mirror. What defines you today?
